Translated from Arabic by Meshullam ben Yonah at the request of his friend Shalem.

Note in Latin about the content (fol. [ii]r); numerous medical notes in Latin and a Hebrew note (" הספר הזה חברו החכם בגדול המכונה עלזהראוי ") on fol. [iii]r, numerous Hebrew notes on fol. [iii]v.

Numerous marginal and interlinear glosses, notes in Hebrew, some in Latin, chapter numbers in the margin.

Fols. 213-214 are blank.

Glosses, notes at the beginning (flyleaf) and indexes added at the end (fols. 212r, 215r-217r) in Italian hands.

Support: Early Spanish paper with chain-lines spaced 50-55mm apart and zizag signs along the folding line of sheets; outer sheets of quires made of parchment.
Extent: ff. 217
Dimensions (leaf): 365 × 180 mm.
Foliation: Foliation in both Hebrew (earlier) and Arabic (more recent) numerals.

Collation

14 quires: i 18, ii 14, iii-xi 16, xii 18, xiii 20, xiv 4 Signatures in Hebrew characters, not always visible, no catchwords.

Condition

Script faded away on several folios.

Sephardi semi-cursive script.

Decoration

Binding

Brown leather binding, blind-tooled, with the gold-tooled coat of arms of Archbisop Laud in the middle; holes for straps; spine slightly damaged.

Provenance and Acquisition

Censor's signature: "Dominico Irosolomitano" (fol. 212r); owner's inscription: "Liber Guil[ielmi] Laud Archiepi[scopi] Cant[uariensis] et Cancellar[ii] Universit[atis] Oxon[iensis] 1637" (fol. [iii]v)

Donated to the Library by Archbishop William Laud (see Summary Catalogue, vol.II, part 1, pp.13-14).
