The section begins כתב הרב, and the author frequently quotes ה̇ר̇א̇ב̇ד̇ (Abraham b. David of Posquières), but the fragment is not part of the מגדל עז of Shemtob ibn Gaon.

Chapter ix beg. כתב הרב שלשה ימים לבני אידיהן וכו' עד אינו אסור בע̇ז̇ פ̇ק̇ משנה לפני אידיהן ... וכו' וכתבו בתוספות אסור לשאת ולתת עמהם משום דאזלו ביום אידו ומודו לע̇ז̇ נר̇ מתוך לשונו שר̇ל̇ אף ממקח וממכר וקשה על מה סמכו העולם עכשיו לשאת ולתת עמם אף ביום איד שלהם ואין לומר דהיינו טעמא משום דגויים שבחוצה לארץ לאו עובדי ע̇ז̇ הם אלא מנהג אבותיהם בידם...
